Dog and Doll Painting

An artist that inspired me was James Jean, I loved his use of colour and decided to create something similar in, in order to evoke a surrealistic feel. Event-wise what had inspired me to create this work was the death of a friend. What I hope viewers will feel is a sense of childhood or nostalgia. I wanted to portray my pet dog, something I consider innocent. The overall point however is to show the process of moving on. I see my dog as a guidance animal, someone who got me through times of stress. The doll however is a symbol of remembrance and childhood. It acts as a stationary variable, something timeless, unable to age, however is connected to a certain period of time: childhood.
