About The Artwork
While my past work has been profoundly influenced by the environment of the Pacific Northwest, I have a deep desire to paint non-objectively, allowing colour and mark-making to emanate from somewhere inside my body other than my conscious self. Non-objective explorations and painting expressively have cracked open the safe shell of my art-making. This inner expression feels very different from the person I show to the world, but through my painting these two voices slowly merge as I become more familiar with my paintings and with myself.

I was born in Canada in 1953 and currently work in my home studio in Vancouver BC. I began my working life in medicine but had always been drawn to a career in visual arts. In 1993, I started learning and working as an artist full-time. I have a deep desire to paint non-objectively, allowing colour and mark-making to emanate from somewhere inside my body other than my conscious self. This intuitive practice often seems careless and haphazard, but is actually passionate and engaging.
