About The Artwork
With the "LOSTSCAPE" series, it was a great need for me - after 10 years of painting without contact to the canvas - to touch the surface again. Unlike before, I wanted to work again more flat but also more plastic. The surfaces rugged with relief, appear smooth or shiny. Here, too, a stimulating journey with the gaze through the picture is important to me. The various dynamics of the surfaces to each other, often rugged and painted directly from the paint tube have an immediate effect and create a moving liveliness. Pasty and bright colors laid out in horizontal planes, allow the viewer to be guided into landscape associations. Even if these landscapes are new territory in their kind for us, we can an inner recollection of familiar sensations such as light, warmth, cold, dryness, wetness, silence or noise through what we see. These images stimulate awakening and curiosity to be able to look at them again and again.

To me, the world of images, is an explicable world. It grows before and within my eyes from inspiration, technique and my own hope, that something might happen which is entirely beyond inspiration and technique. In that I see it as a relative to the worlds of melodies, forms and rhythm. As it manifests through my hands, my brushes and my paints, it s a process of laying claim to something beyond possession. There is a certain sense of ownership through understanding in this kind of work. In the past years nature and especially the forest were a great source of inspiration for my work. On the other hand being exposed to city life I had the desire to bring "my" nature into the urban structure. Regulary I create installations in public spaces or initiate interventions with other artists (dancer, musicians, ...) - We recapture public spaces by artistic activities and pave the way for encounters of all kinds.
