Large abstract oil painting on canvas. Drifts to the North East was painted in three layers of oil paints. Starting from thin, then medium & finally thick impasto layers were applied, with ample drying time between each. This process ensured a truly professional finish of rich, clean colours. Signed on the back. Unframed - outer frame not needed as the artwork is painted on all sides. Spontaneous, intuitive, imaginative, colourful, vibrant, unique artwork created by Josephine Window. Drifts To The North East was inspired by the idea of incredible mass movements of earth's creatures throughout history. SHIPPING: Economic and low carbon shipping from Australia. Rolled in a heavy duty plastic tube. Packed well with acid free tissue paper, glassine and bubble wrap. Rolled around an inner smaller tube. Sealed in waterproof plastic. Then placed in a larger outer tube. End caps are fixed with strong packaging tape. Tube and packaging materials are recyclable. OVERSIZED CANVAS: Larger than 120cm (48 inches) on the longest side, when packed. This is when the canvas artwork is on a timber frame, ready to hang and packed in a plywood box. INTERNATIONAL EXPRESS SHIPPING FROM AUSTRALIA: This artwork is taken off the stretcher frame and shipped in a tube. The painting will need re-stretching onto a new stretcher by your local picture framer. Outer frame is optional, but not needed - the sides are painted as an extension of the picture. I create my art with passion, happiness and a sense of being lucky. Contemporary abstract style is the most natural to me. Important influences are nature in many forms, the human body and people. As I develop the picture, a story evolves in my imagination. My expression is inspired by life's complexity and energies. Major areas of work are painting and drawing. Painting The subject and style determine whether I work in oils, mixed media or acrylic paints. I love to paint with complex colour interactions and challenging compositions. In my Colour Circle series of oil paintings, my interest is in the dynamics between emotions and visual impact of colour. I use complex colour structures and layers of texture. A formal style brings coherence and harmony to the picture. For me, oil painting is a slow, thoughtful process. Drawing In my current drawing practice I use layers of lines and colours in mixed media to form the composition and develop my ideas into stories. I love to draw quickly and spontaneously to music. The life model, props and music provide the catalyst for me to enter the world of my imagination. I attend weekly figure drawing sessions at Byron Bay, New South Wales, Australia.
