'Drip Accumulator' is based on the principles of time slowly dripping away through different paths and channels, in different directions and at different speeds, it is basically a "Human Egg Timer" charting the passing of time. 'Drip Accumulator' is one of my latter experiments into painting on the reverse side of sheet acrylic/Perspex. I was playing with the idea of a sense of movement in a static piece, the idea that the painting is in a state of flux, almost trying to escape it's cellular constraints. By using 2mm thick, transparent sheet acrylic/Perspex the artwork is viewed through the plastic meaning the final affect is super slick and glossy, devoid of brush strokes or texture, leaving a clinical hermetically sealed quality. Inspired by my love of modern art, minimalism & the works of Piet Mondrian, this artwork is a one-off, unique piece that forms part of a much larger collection where I use Mondrian's line work as a starting point, but which has deviated in my ongoing works to become much more individual to my style. Please see the rest of my Saatchi portfolio to see more examples of my linear work. This painting was a meticulous labour of love taking over sixty hours to complete, the black lines and the red cells and drips are all hand painted in a traditional fine art manner, it is the fact that it is done on the reverse side of sheet Perspex that gives the piece its unique, modern feel. 'Drip Accumulator' is a statement piece that would work equally well in either a home or a commercial environment, it is framed with a 12mm wooden frame stained matt black, and is signed on the rear, the artwork is ready to hang. Many Thanks, Paul Whorlow
