Abstract landscape depicting a terrain from an earlier era. Plaster and PVA mixed onto the primed canvas and then gradually sanded down to a smooth but textural surface. Metal leaf gilded onto the plaster and then Oils applied. Burnt Sienna, Ultramarine, Van Dyke Brown. 'Shall the great soul of Newton quit this earth, To mingle with his stars; and every muse, Astonish'd into silence, shun the weight Of honours due to his illustrious name? But what can man? - Even now the sons of light, In strains high-warbled to seraphic lyre, Hail his arrival on the coast of bliss. Max Maxwell is a British multidisciplinary artist. He initially started his career as a creative assistant to Brian Eno and later became a set and lighting designer for live events. A series of projects followed with Maxwell creating concepts for music videos, contemporary dance, exhibitions and site specific installations. In 2017 he was commissioned by the Museum of London to write and direct a film about boy soldiers of the 1st World War. His works have been exhibited internationally in group and solo shows, as well as selected for the Cannes Film Festival (2011). He has designed large public sculptures and his paintings have been commissioned for various institutions and corporate clients including Barclays Wealth, Swiss Re, Daiwa, Wedlake Bell and also private residencies and yachts.
