Neill Haughey is a self taught artist from Co Armagh in Ireland. The natural environment has always been a source of inspiration for his work, Neill says "I love the play of light across the land which can be spectacular especially during stormy weather!" His detailed traditional landscape paintings in oils on has led to many commissioned works. More recently Neill has been exploring the concept of surrealism. This has led to the creation of imaginative dream like landscapes conveying a sense of vastness with panormic vistas. Incorporating precariously balanced rocks and trees creates an impression of fragility and how man's influence can shift the balance of nature. Combining these images with dramatic skies results in moody atmospheric thought provoking paintings.
