Electric Rothkoesque on Gray Background Vertical Painting Painting

What/who inspired the work? I am constantly rethinking Rothko inspired works and modernizing them for today's interiors. My favorite era of artists is the 20th midcentury abstract expressionists, and I am stuck there for now. I live in a Midcentury house and I go on Midcentury house tours. The vibe is from the lighter "don't take things too seriously" side. What do you hope its viewers will feel/think? To me this piece combines the serenity of today's minimal gray-white interiors where designers fear bravery of any kind but perhaps in an artwork like this that brings in one wild color - in this case, bright red. I feel like this painting has the look of a print, which I appreciate. Why did you choose the medium, subject matter, style? Because acrylic work on paper is my favorite way to work. This painting is done with a gray background and red undercoat. The top band is textural gray and black and red. The middle band is an electric red and the bottom is a black. I've allowed edges of my red undercoat to remain showing.
