About The Artwork

This work is from my Celestial Eye series that I am working on presently. Here I articulate my fascination with eyes, as both a beautiful and intricate source of color and as a catalyst of human relationships. But, most importantly, I see a connection between the eye and the astrophysical Black Hole. The pupil of the human eye is dark, because all impinging light is absorbed by the retina; just as the Black Hole absorbs all light entering its event horizon (... in addition to other stars, planets and galaxies!). These comparisons are powerful to me: they connect the human experience in an archetypal way to our unfolding World and Universe.

Seta Injeyan is a Los Angeles based visual artist. She is a leading Abstract Surrealist painter. Mat Gleason: "Her newest series of paintings, is a wide-eyed exploration of the very mechanics of the human body. Pulsating with bold, opulent colors and intricate compositions that at turns weave together or juxtapose the titular flows, these paintings reflect, at first sight, Injeyan’s fascination with the workings — and interrelationships — of internal organs. And while this could well serve as a purpose unto itself, as an impetus for a strictly esthetic study of biology, Injeyan pursues a far broader goal, seeking to discover layers and dimensions of meaning beyond the esthetic and scientific alike. "Peter Frank: "But whereas before Seta Injeyan was alarmed about this rude intrusion into empirical reality, she now delights in it. She is no longer badgered by her phantasies; if reality itself can’t be tamed, then she has at least come to accept, if not revel in, its unlikelihoods."
