About The Artwork

The inspiration behind Etherial Intermittence comes from the divine octopus, the magical deep sea dweller, which has always been a favorite subject of mine. I have always admired the way women and octopus erotic relationship is depicted in ancient Japanese illustration. Although my work in this case is not meant as erotic but as a place where I'm exploring the feminine subconscious. This year I will be producing a series of paintings that reflects this in a fantasy and surreal like world. I want to express fears, joy, doubts, illusions and fantasies of the modern female mind. I wish to address the deep issues of environmental pollution and the sad loss of our fauna and fauna by also combining these elements together as I believe that the female aura is deeply connected to mother earth. My paintings aim to be as much beautiful as political.

I was born in Rome, Italy where I lived and studied Graphic Design until I moved to London in 1992. London was the place for me to become a Tattoo Artist. I would spend the next 25 years creating and tattooing original designs for clients from all walks of life. I have now relocated to Thailand where I live with my husband and two sons and where I took up painting full time. I have always loved art in all it's forms, and although I'm still a tattoo artist and sometimes do graphic work, my true love has quickly become fine art and painting. I enjoy mixing and painting with powder pigments from Italy. My inspiration comes from the varied and vibrant flora and fauna life around me, from my past tattoo expertise, from all the art that I was able to absorb while I was living in Italy and of course from all the weird, bizzarre and divine around us . Painting full time has been a long felt project of mine and I'm thrilled to be doing it. As the topic of dying ecosystems takes its toll I want to highlight what we could possibly loose in the very near future by combining these elements in a surreal and fantasy like world and showcasing the beauty of all earthlings. My paintings aim to be as much beautiful and deep as political. In the near future I want to bring to life a collection of works based on the human subconscious, its interaction with animals and how he relates to nature as well as delving into the dark aspect of the human mind.
