The impulse for the painting "Ecce Homo Europe" was given by my thoughts about the reality that surrounds me. I decided to attempt to portrait what Europe is and what it should be through my art.
I built the image on the plan of the cross, or rather its variations. The cross in this case is in no way linked to the crucifixion of Jesus – here it symbolizes the axis of the world and its four sides, a link between the divine and human. It represents the changeability in which the human is entangled. The cross has always been considered as a symbol of the righteousness, beauty and absolute presence of God.
‘Ecce Homo’ because it reminds of a man with open arms, ready for acts of mercy and openness. It can be considered a form of historical guidance. Closely linked to the events of our continent in good and bad contexts, it is the only symbol emphatically defining Europe. Captured in this way, it becomes a man's link to God, yesterday’s link to tomorrow.
The vertical lines of the cross represent divinity and the horizontal lines represent humanity. Inside the cross, a circle and a red, cracked ball surrounded by thorns. There is nothing smaller inside the circle. It combines the most earnest peace with the most powerful strength.
Because there is no beginning, nor end, it becomes an image of eternity. The inscription "IN VARIETATE CONCORDIA" – “United in diversity” is the motto of the European Union, which binds all these forces. All figures and bodies can be obtained from the sphere; the sphere is without measure and without end and generates all other forms of our world.
The crack is a split in the creation and a way of understanding everything; the surrounding thorns highlight the suffering and dynamics of all changes.
Red symbolizes life and the strong feelings that stimulate our psyche the most. Europe is built on strong values and appears like a concrete fortress resembling a sacrificed man who is constantly challenged by extreme feelings and dilemmas.
Uncertainty of choice and the rejection of entities that can unite become the cause of internal cracks. However, despite the tension in it, it is a picture full of hope, which I sincerely wish for all.‪

I am a man who has been painting since ever. I feel great joy when I can share a bit of my world with some other people. My Artwork is a constant search for the best way to interpret the ideas that I have about myself and the world I live in. Nature is the most direct and intense inspiration. My principle medium, oil on canvas. My works are created through the accumulation of the details and layers. Each of them is somehow an individual collection of signs and motives consist of the whole new system. My favorites subjects are portraits, horses and landscapes and surreal images. Although I was born in Poland I spent most of my life abroad having lived in Germany, Greece, Cyprus and Norway. During my long stay in Greece, back in ninetieths, I founded my own gallery "Robert Art Gallery" in Nafplio. I was lucky enough to live in Greece for many years. Dealing everyday with the spirits of art of our civilization is like a feast with the Gods of Olympus. In addition to my paintings I am a landscaping designer in 3D, graphic designer, photographer and film maker.
