About The Artwork
Abstract paintings, are not common to me. My usual work is more graphic, with text and image – and much larger. But when I have some decent paper, I feel compelled to put down the paint, with action. I don't censor myself, letting the form and colours evolve, with speed often. The imbalance and asymmetry will sort itself out over time. Forcing myself to be spontaneous helps me in my other work. The titles come from something or someone that crossed my path that day – and which just feels right. One of my favourite music recordings is Tame Impala's 2012, "Feels Like We Only Go Backwards." These abstract works give me the same feeling; jarred backwards with some forward motion also.
