Excerpt 5 Painting

This is the 5th in a series of works completed on masonite board, board that had been used in my BFA exhibition as part of a temporal installation within the university gallery. I started using segments of the masonite to create cradled panels to work back into, the existing painting works as a ground. The Excerpt series is an exercise in composition and also re-using a materials. Many of the Excerpt pieces utilize collage as an element along side spray paint and housepaints, even some inkjets of previous work. As a visual artist the tendency is to collect things that may at some point become useful, this series actually puts some collected elements to work. The piece is signed on the back in ink.
