About The Artwork
While it stands alone, this is one of four paintings that together tell a story of high romantic expectations.. The painting's foreground was painted in the layered style of the old masters while that background is more impressionistic. This combination focuses the viewer's attention on the model and the narrative. It is signed on the front and more fully on the back. The painting is oil on tempered, high-density, quarter inch hardboard coated with and acid free, archival acrylic paint. I chose hardboard because it allows finer detail and smoother blending than canvas. It is also more resistant to cracking with age. The paintings are not cradled because the heavier, tempered hardboard resists warping when properly installed in a frame at least 1.5" deep. The painting is coated with acrylic paint on the sides and back. Paintings on wood should not be placed in areas that experience condensation or large temperature and humidity swings.
