FORGOTTEN ARCH Painting

During a short holiday in Liguria - Italian seaside- I passed by this abandoned arch which was in the middle of other buildings. I was thinking why such an elegant object was in that condition, and the memories of his stones. Trying to figuring his past function and why, I decided to paint it. It was so nice to look at the seaside through the empty space. And the small stair on the left to reach the top (why?). I guess it was a part of a villa, maybe the main entrance or an observation point in a garden in front of the sea. I decided to fix it on the paper, to remember it and to paint it transmitting the sense of ancient proudness, vs the state of abandon of nowaday. I put my feelings and questions on the paper, and the place in which you can find it,as a treasure map. I hope you will enjoy it.
