Painting: Oil on Wood.
I created this painting as a way of exploring the idea of the inside, outside and in-between. The concept of thresholds, of liminality, of the 'space between' is one that interests me.
The contrast of the geometric form of the terrarium-like structure contrast readily with the more organic and free-form leaves, allowing a tension between what is contained, un-contained and fading.
I have chosen to leave this painting un-framed - instead painting the edge of the thick wooden panel, to allow for the painting to float away from the wall. I felt like framing the work, would further frame the floating terrarium-like structure.
My painting surface and edge is varnished with Gamvar matt varnish and painted in oils on a wooden panel support. It comes supplied with hanging fixings.
