Family Portrait Painting

Contemporary Artist residing in Portland, Maine. My most recent work aims to use bright color and various abstract subject matter to bring forth an emotional response in the viewer. This new work also looks to transport the viewer to another place mentally. Abstracted imagery, arranged in various fields of color that are hard to decipher, yet comfortable; extremely simplified, yet well thought out. Very few of my works are premeditated. Therefore, as an artist, I am very dependent on subconscious thought and happenstance. Although there are often underlying themes throughout a given series of work, I rarely attack a canvas with definitive expectations on achieving a specific end result. I work in a variety of different mediums, but primarily create using acrylic paint, house paint and oil sticks on canvas.
