"Fisherman" masterfully weaves together a tapestry of imagery, symbols, and linguistic subtlety to craft a visually captivating composition. The rich spectrum of blues imbues the artwork with a soothing aura, offering viewers a respite from the tumultuous currents of daily life, while punctuations of vivid yellow strokes infuse it with an electrifying dynamism. At the heart of this piece lies the profound Taijitu, the emblem of Yin and Yang, serving as a poignant reminder of balance and harmony. Yet, juxtaposed against this serene emblem, a primal beast emerges from the depths of the canvas's bottom-right corner, an embodiment of chaos and the inexorable passage of time, evoking contemplations of mortality. The central figure, the fisherman, stands as a testament to a profound communion with nature, seamlessly melding into his environment, highlighting the deep-rooted connection between humankind and the natural world. Above, the enigmatic presence of the moon, poised in the upper left corner, lends an air of mystery to the composition, its luminescence casting an otherworldly glow upon the scene. The synthesis of these disparate elements conjures a sense of enchantment that transcends the canvas. "Fisherman" invites viewers on a captivating journey, where the interplay of symbols and imagery beckons them to explore the intricate dance between equilibrium and discord, serenity and tumult, ultimately leaving them entranced by the magical realm within.

Tom engages with an eclectic range of images taken from the everyday, books, art history, and television. By funnelling a broad range of source material onto the canvas, the work oozes ambiguity. Although Tom is extremely selective with his choice of word and image, he combines them in such a way to blur any apparent meaning, allowing for a unique and individual voyage into the deep void created by the multitude of layers of paint and newspaper on the canvas. Tom’s work orbits around anti-capitalist themes as his bombastic brush strokes become an expression of detest towards powers of corruption. Tom’s work is a protest against the spiritually depraved world we live in and aims to sustain and invigorate the culture of art he is so infatuated by. Tom is a London-based artist who is a graduate from the University of Brighton and is currently studying a masters at UAL: Camberwell.
