Float Painting

Elisabeth Handelsby ( f.1982 ) is an Norwegian artist that lives and works in Oslo. She is a graduate of the Norwegian School of Creative Studies, and Oslo and Akershus University College. Her work consists mainly of paintings based on photographic references and mixed media work. Handelsby combines the painterly and the figurative in her work. She plays on the illusion of three-dimensional, while she emphasizes the two-dimensional picture plane . The motifs often circles around teams as identity, the human condition and our relationship with nature and animals. The paintings can be seen as glimpses of stories, in which the viewer can form their own entirety. Handelsby has participated in several group exhibitions, and had her first solo exhibition was at Gallery 69 in 2014, as a part of the Femme Brutal festival.
