About The Artwork

It is very difficult to make the stripes by myself on the iron plate because those were made by the wind. This artwork entered 3rd in the population vote in the art competition. I gave birth to my daughter in 2014. I experienced pregnancy, childbirth and her rearing, and I realized again. My daughter who could not do anything is growing at a tremendous speed a day a day. Today never comes again, neither time nor the growth of my daughter can be stopped. If my brain has a built-in recording switch, I would like to store all of the appearance of a cute girl, but such a thing is impossible and I can do it by shooting movies and pictures piecemeally. Perhaps my daughter may be incredibly cute because there is a fight against time I will never return. Because there is a momentary aspect that it can not be seen again, my time turns into something that is colorful. I thought that the same principle will happen for the work. If the work is also alive and reflects the changes day by day, the viewer's perspective may change. So I want to create a living work. I thought so and met an iron. Although it is an artificial material. An iron plate I bought at the neighborhood home supply store was coated with rust inhibitor and it was shining silver. This condition is the state of "fetus" not breathing yet. After washing with a detergent and a brush, the iron is able to breathe. This is "birth". And the "newborn baby" that was shining silver reacted with oxygen in the air, and beautiful rust colors and patterns were born. Rust breathes today and continues to mature. Someday it will have a time of decay. Should the work be eternal and immortal like "Mona Lisa"? Because there will be a day to return to nature, the work and time reflected in our eyes turn into incredibly colorful.
