About The Artwork
This portrait was painted for my grandparents using a photograph taken around 1957 by John Tobin in Richmond Virginia. They are sitting in a 1948 Ford Mercury. I started with a Yellow Ochre wash and proceeded with Burnt Sienna and Naples Yellow with some white for the steering wheel. For this painting I incorporated the use of scumbling to help produce a vintage look. Overall, the painting has a nice glow to it.
