About The Artwork
The work is inspired by forest trails that I have memories of from living on the west coast. I hiked a lot and took in the luxury of nature. Being restrained by the stay at home orders made me realize how much I missed the feeling of being in the middle of the woods. I enhanced the color to lift my spirits, and to give the feeling of an imaginary place. The work is executed in acrylic on canvas, with gel medium that gives it a very glossy surface. I came up with the color scheme by running the original photo through various filters till I found the the palette that worked. I hope the viewer will feel the same pull toward nature that I had. They may see the image as a wishful refuge from the current social situation.
