About The Artwork
"Forest" was inspired by the 2020 devastating wildfires that burned and destroyed many acres of natural forests in and around California. The artist wanted to give the viewer some hope and to show how In the spring following a forest fire, trees that survived the blaze explode in new growth and plants sprout in abundance from the scorched earth. For centuries, it was a mystery how seeds, some long dormant in the soil, knew to push through the ashes to regenerate the burned forest. Painted on a large canvas, the artist takes the viewer through an emotional journey from devastation, smoke and fire to the blue fresh winds that will arrive, new moon and the feel of dust settling down and the forest, once again rising from the ashes. Varnished for protection. No frame, ready to hang. This high quality acrylic painting is done on gallery wrapped canvas, with no need for framing, as the edges are painted. Louis Knight is a contemporary abstract artist originally from Brooklyn, New York, and now lives and works from a studio on Long Island, NY. He was introduced to art and the art world at a young age and throughout the years he was mostly inspired by color relationships and the beauty and complexity of the natural world in addition to the emotional landscape within. But most of all, he encourages the viewer to always bring their own meanings to the work. LK loves working in bold mixed media abstracts, primarily mixed media painting, a process of layered acrylic paint, medium, gesso, ink, washes on canvas. His paintings found a home in prestigious private collections in the United States and all over the world. While working and creating his own art, Mr. Knight also managed an art gallery, curating a wide range of local artists and exhibiting a successful "One woman show". Mr. Knights’ philosophy is very simple. He believes that “Art is a way of life that consumes all including every thought and action of the artist as well".
