Fowey Moor Painting

This painting from drawings made in summer on the edge of an Iron age settlement called Stowes Hill on Fowey Moor in Cornwall UK. It was a favourite spot for drawing and drinking tea from a thermos flask with my late Mother Christine Harvey who was an Artist and musician. It really is a painting about love of the wild untamed landscape of my childhood and those with whom I share this connection. The colours are heightened and the orange is the bracken which spreads across the foothills of the moorland and the green the shoots of new growth. I hope this painting allows the viewer to feel immersed and enveloped by this ancient view, unchanged in thousands of years. I paint using high quality artist's colours and choose oil over acrylic as the colour is truer , clearer and more lastingly vibrant and natural. my painting style has evolved over the 40 or so years that I have been practising and although moving forward remains recognisable as my work for the whole of my working life.
