About The Artwork

The postmodern society has been deeply impacted by the industrial revolution in many different possible aspects. On the one hand, it determined a solid foundation for the promotion of the Capitalism and for the economic development, on the other seem to be totally worn for no longer meet the aspirations of individuals and it is being by itself a waste of efficiency. Many of these changes, which are recent, were caused by the access to information, facilitating and humanisation of production processes and work. Humans began to spend more time in reflection of their dialogue and role in the world. With so many crises have landed in the beds of society, very chaotic scenarios have been generated and it is understood that changes are needed to break, resume or build a new state of consciousness to contemporary civilisation. The Presidential Fridas are born in this context, from the appreciation of Mafo Souza to an image of Frida mixed to a presidential candidate's Face from the last elections (Brazil, 2014). A random choice and with non reflection on the trajectory of Frida Kahlo but generating creative grant for the artistic production Mafo. The collection is created and assembled from the analogy with a line of industrial production, where political candidates are presented for new presidential elections. Expressionless, they reinforce the feeling that everything in politics is the same. And that even though, his speeches can be guided in different utopian values, delivery up most of it. On the other hand the line of imaginary politicians, is one that inhabits the collective unconscious, in search of heroes that can bring about the changes that society craves, but deep down are only a transfer of responsibility to an entity that is not effective without that in fact individuals pass this society actively work with the nation's direction.
