ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The picture consists of two parts - 100*140 cm Concept: Personal boundaries form a significant role in human life. They define how this particular human treats himself/herself and which tactics he or she chooses while interacting with others. Personal space helps to build acceptable distance from other individuals and establishes personal boundaries. The child does not have a self-image when in close connection with his parents whether at the level of space or the level of the mind. To become an individual the child should become aware of his or her mindset, and desires facilitate the way to it. Early marriages, in this sense, make the awareness process more complex. Once young people leave the parental home, they find themselves in a new family, where the code of conduct and life philosophy are already established and apply to all members of the family. The semantic and compositional center of the work is the "blood" thread which unifies the images of two houses. No wonder that when you see the title of the painting in English it has two different words for describing one thing – “From house to house, from home to home”. “House” means a physical construction and “home” is something more emotional, a personal space with which an individual identifies himself.

My name is Katerina Konyukhova. Working in the technique of "painting" I create objects of contemporary art. I like to combine two styles, which in their concept are the opposite: abstract expressionism and minimalism. When the expression [the subconscious ...] is asking for the canvas and you can not hold it, the only thing I can do with this energy is to hold it in the canvas in the right way. First, I negotiate and agree with myself on what trajectory I will go. On the canvas I draw geometric shapes and lines, from which I should not depart. Whenever there is a palette knife in hands, and a lot of tubes are at hand, an uncontrolled collaboration takes place. The image on the canvas works together with the observer. On the one hand, the author, colors and energy, on the other hand the viewer, who views the work and interprets it in his mind. There is a synthesis. With each person, "Work" gets its own meaning.
