inspired by a life of profound failed love stories turned into lessons very thick texture of the figure, smoother background, colors vibrant and sharp i love you, screamed his eyes above silent lips as he wept, frustrated, exasperated, distraught, heart broken and full with the same breath what else can i do? what else can i give? punishing himself for all the things he wanted to say but didn't couldn't and all the things he told himself he wouldn't do but did proving himself as unworthy as he thought creating evidence to prove himself right is that smile for me? are those tears for me as well? i love you! he cried, shouted, exclaimed, in silence not knowing how to, properly not asking why not too scary too heavy too dark and he knew that she loved him, but knew not how to inhale it, how to embrace or kiss or love without fear from the depths of his being - and that scared him that there were places within Him where She traveled that He dared not go and that broke his heart - because to explore those places, hand-in-hand, together, unafraid, was all she ever wanted. she cried and cried and cried, holding herself, rocking, not knowing why. was this love? was this how it was supposed to feel? tears dripping from the deepest recesses of her heart, throbbing in pain, in ecstasy, in longing, in desire, in inability to communicate - I LOVE YOU i love you (i love you), did you know? do you now? what makes you feel so unworthy, and how do i take it away? i see your eyes with the same longing and fear you see in mine we are trapped in the worst outcomes of our best intentions pretending we know how to love and be loved knowing pretending will never make it true ashamed at the chaos we've caused in the attempt wrongly unworthy and in the false unworthiness, i suffer. did you? do you now? and she held herself, the universe roiling in her womb, each tear containing the power of all of creation, and the pain of every generation of woman unable to heal themselves unable to heal their lovers unable to accept that this is not their responsibility and still they try and still they try and still she cried and still i cry and still she held herself, staring into his eyes, ready to love, but already proud and disappointed.
