About The Artwork

Geological Dreamscape #2 is a reproduction of an ephemeral artwork, the original no longer exists in this form. The Geological Dreamscapes are a series of Limited Edition Fibre Art GICLEE PRINTS inspired by the mysteries held in the very ground under our feet. I love to look at an exposed body of rock and imagine what it has been exposed to. Immense heat, pressure. Forces acting beneath us. And then I let my imagination run wild with layers of sediment, inclusions, rocks folded and altered. All depicted in the softest and lightest of mediums. This print has an etherial quality - the depth and sheen of the silk fibres giving a three dimensional appearance. Print is part of a Limited Edition of 39 and comes hand numbered and signed, with a certificate of authenticity. Print is NOT supplied framed

I am a contemporary fibre artist residing in New Zealand, creating abstract artworks. Inspired by a fascination with tiny or hidden details, nuances of light and emotion in our physical and spiritual environment, my work is often informed by my background in engineering. Having always been passionate about expressing my creativity, for the last 5 years I have taken a medium that is traditionally “crafted” and developed my own technique and artistic voice. I find the process of painting and sculpting with unspun fibres fascinating with every new piece that I create. There is an alchemy to the process of transforming wisps of fibre into something with form, structure and strength. Feltmaking is an ancient art form which allows the artist to explore a subject in a unique way. Incredibly fragile at the outset of the process, becoming increasingly tactile and physical as the fibres intertwine and lock together. Becoming fascinated with the fragility and beauty of the fibre art in the early stages of the process, I have recently developed a method of creating and capturing unique, ephemeral fibre art works. These I reproduce as fibre art prints.
