“Glacier Lily” Painting

“Glacier Lily” was inspired from a fly fishing trip I took in the back country of the High Unitas in Utah. In order to fish the almost impossible to find glacier run-off lakes in the high elevations of the Unitas.. detailed topographical maps, backpacking gear, bear mace and a lot of stamina are required. If you are lucky, after a 6 hour steep climb, you might hook a small trout on a fly. On this particular expedition, in the early spring, it was the wild flowers that stole the show from the trout! They exploded and blanketed the valleys in waves of color. The Glacier Lilies that bloomed on the banks of the small and bright blue lakes, absolutely captivated me! The flowers tiny size, vivid coloring and delicate petals were absolute perfection. Immediately after my excursion, I ran into my studio and began to paint all the wild flowers I found. “The Glacier Lily” was all pleasure to re-create!
