Puerto Rican-American artist, Christina Lewis, aka Bonesy, received her BFA in Graphic Design and Painting in 2009. Her work is expressionistic and merges technology and nature using augmented reality filters to bring her paintings to life. Guided back to her roots, she is now based in San Juan, Puerto Rico and is inspired by the vibrant culture of island life. She has completed 2 art residency programs, one is São Paulo, Brazil called Casa Na Ilha, and the other in the Lower East Side, NYC at Con Artist Collective. In 2019, she also spent 2 months on a Self-Guided Residency though Colombia where she painted 3 murals and visited all the museums and galleries in each city she visited. Bonesy founded a non-profit to open her own sponsored residency program in Santurce, Puerto Rico, which has been delayed due to the pandemic (www.bonesycollective.org). This will bring Puerto Rican artists who are part of the diaspora back to the island while also providing much needed studio space to local artists. She has shown her work in Puerto Rico, NYC, New Jersey, Philadelphia, and Colombia. In 2019, Bonesy was part of the Every Women Biennial in NYC and also participated in the Expresiones Latinx show in Morristown, NJ, where she was in the Panel Discussion on the importance of building art communities. She was part of a group show called “Art is Money - Money is Art” at Geba Art Gallery in Bogotá, Colombia. Bonesy partnered with End of Elm, a boutique restaurant in Morristown, New Jersey, to curate a rotating art exhibit to support local artists (www.endofelm.com/end-of-elm/art). She was part of the Every Woman Biennial NFT Only Show in 2021 and also showed with Superfine! NYCx1 (Wo)man in 2021.
