"Dayang's works are like containers containing memories and experiences. It is her observation of China, paying attention to the ordinary life. Throughout her living in China, she witnesses the rapid changes in urban development, social climate and economic prosperity. To summarize and express her experiences, she uses different materials that she came across on the streets of china. Used wooden frames, Newspaper, wrappers, calendar pages are used in combination to form a picturesque of an experience. The lattice wooden window frames used to decorate Chinese homes are grids of different perspectives to her. When looked carefully, these grids could contain a lantern, a panda, a calendar girl or a Plastic bag, anything you can associate with china. As windows are frameworks enclosing a pane of glass for an opening, her grids are windows of great china. Being an observer, she could only see China's culture from outside and far. It is an opening to a a culture which is yet to reach out and touch."
