Golden backed woodpecker also known as lack-rumped flameback is a woodpecker found widely distributed in the Indian subcontinent. It is one of the few woodpeckers that are seen in urban areas. It has a characteristic rattling-whinnying call and an undulating flight which caught my attention. The beautiful flaming golden back is a sight to behold. The work is entirely done with 'Fingers using Oil colors on Canvas'. You can see and feel the different textures of paint on the painting.
