About The Artwork
I tend to gravitate towards the use of basic shapes to start. “Golden From Within” is a blend of two blocks together with a defining line between the two. Using paint and tools, I applied reductive techniques with markings and scrapings to reveal multiple layers of paint under each surface. This piece has a block color shape of pale gold metallic set on top of a matted grey. The painting has some red underlying details against the colors which provide textured depth to the surface. There are lots of cracking and heavy scraping and marking throughout. The metallic paint has an interesting reflective quality that changes tones depending on the lighting. Lighting plays a key role with all art. The artist has included several photos in different lighting environments to relay the changes of the painting. The painting is signed on the back and is coated twice with UV Archival Varnish and felt pads on the back to protect the wall surface. The artwork is ready to hang.

I am an abstract painter expressing my work by exploring the relationship between nature and our environment. Using dialogue between the two can be my best source of inspiration. The tactility of multiple textures and building of layers, are the backbones of my pieces. The severity of the elements can age and weather and create the most interesting designs. The distressed look of patina on metal and dilapidating walls intrigues me by their abstract surfaces and patterns. These textures and layers give depth and dimension to my paintings and are common elements in all my series. I currently live and work in the Berkshires on Western Massachusetts.
