My name is Puja Sarkar. I am an Indian Painter & Social activist based in Kolkata. I completed my graduation and post-graduation in Visual Arts (Painting) from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata in 2007 and 2009 respectively. Since then, I have been actively working as a full-time artist and social activist for 20 Years. I have participated in Fifteen International Sponsored Exhibitions (Including Solo Show). In 2008, I have been invited in a prestigious show Artists of Chittagong & Kolkata titled “Vicinity” which was Sponsored & Organized by Assistant High Commission of India, Chittagong, Bangladesh. I also participated more than Hundred National Exhibitions including (Eighty Sponsored Shows) and I also participated in National Painting Camps, Art Fair and Workshops. In 2010, I received a prestigious Award that was given by Book Art Press, New York, USA. 2019 AS an Indian woman artist I have won very prestigious global contest of Winner Women Artist of “HER STORY” which celebrates the idea of Feminism, Women Empowerment and Social Responsibility” in the world. Her story and works was in digital display presentation in Metropolitan Pavilion in Chelsea, New York, United States, USA. Also I awarded - Junior Fellowship in Painting 2019-2020, by: Centre for Cultural Resources & Training (CCRT), Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India, New Delhi. I received appreciation with awards and honours from nationally and internationally. I have participated in numerous national and international art exhibitions, art workshops and art camps. I have curated many Art Exhibitions and talk Shows. I have been invited and appointed as an honorable judge in the jury panel or Chief Guest for many prestigious awards sponsored by Government of India, Government of West Bengal and private sectors related to art and culture within such a short span of time. I mainly work on canvas, paper, or board, either with acrylic or in other mixed media. Recently, other objects, materials, and waste materials have also started appearing in my work. I do create to express myself, my untold story, and feelings through my work. Since childhood, my life has been cordoned off with lots of restrictions, strict discipline, and loneliness. Consequently, by spending life in this way, I got detached from the outside incidents of the materialistic world. So, my intimation grew up with many intimate objects surrounding me. I made a friendship and an emotional attachment to these objects.
