About The Artwork

I created this painting when I was living in an almost deserted village (4 permanent residents including me) in the forest north of Drama city in north Greece. I had my home and a spacious studio high in these mountains and I was researching and experimenting on traditional painting techniques. This is one of the works I created in that period and it is the only one that references my past as a street artist. It is a semi-abstract depiction of a letter graffiti floating in space. The initial title was "thought of a graffiti" because it presents a state of formation, of evolution. Similar to what I imagine could be when a thought of an image takes shape in a person's mind. This artwork was created using the traditional egg-tempera technique as it was used in byzantine iconography. The paper I used is a very rough textured heavyweight printmaking paper of the highest quality. I kept this work for years as part of my personal collection and this is the first time it is shown in public.
