Gray Wave - No. 6 Painting

The sky and see are two of my favorite subjects and appear in the majority of my work, even if they are not the focal points. This piece, however, is the exact opposite. I’ve “ gone all in” as they say, focusing the entire canvas, on the shape of the wave. The movement, the way, the sun light plays with the colors, the way the foam rises up and caps the wave all speak to the timelessness of the sea. When the viewer looks at this piece, I hope they hear the roar of the ocean, smell, the sea salt in the air, feel the spray of brine on their faces. To me, there is nothing more powerful and beautiful than the ocean. It speaks to the divine and all of us.
