About The Artwork
I draw—from my imagination—"snapshots" of abstract geometric compositions. I'm motivated to refine the compositions with the process of subtraction to reveal my joy for colour. I aspire to rely on the interaction between formal elements to create a space that is bold and energetic. The compositions reflect a combination of dualities that are exciting to convey. They are an unpredictable balance of shapes that are static and voluminous, yet they seem to float or dance in space. The flattened texture shimmers in meditative liveliness. Hard edges are softened by semi-transparent shapes. The spatial dynamic of several flat layers creates an atmospheric depth. Colours are bright and combined for tonal dissonance to create areas of tension and resolution. My goal is to create an experience that will engage viewers to also feel a sense of joy. ///////////////// SIZE: 36x36 in. / Depth: 1.625 in. Each painting represents a moment of clarity. During these moments, she feels calm and at peace - grounded like a "rock". For her, that is profoundly satiating and regenerating. She believes that kind of nourishment can only be experienced in nature, such as while tree-bathing in moss-covered woods, floating in a vast body of fresh water, or standing barefoot on the sun-toasted Canadian Shield. She is grateful for and humbled by the beauty of Mother Nature.
