About The Artwork

This is contemporary semi-abstract acrylic painting of Gustav Klimt, Austrian painter. Gustav Klimt wrote: “I have never painted a self-portrait. I am less interested in myself as a subject for a painting than I am in other people, above all women…There is nothing special about me. I am a painter who paints day after day from morning to night…Whoever wants to know something about me…ought to look carefully at my pictures.” From years I've been fascinated by this remarkable artist, hence I've decided to make him the object of my painting. There are only few portraits of this Austrian artist available to view online, but I am convinced he deserves more, so the viewers will have recognised the face of the founder of the Vienna Secession, who had created far more significant artworks than "The Kiss" or "Judith". Not only I wanted to pay my respect, and show my admiration to Klimt by painting his portraiture, but also I aimed to encourage the viewers to explore more facts about this marvellous, albeit once controversial painter. My painting is symbolic. In my interpretation, Klimt sits in a decorated armchair as if he was a king, but he has no crown, nor does he hold a sceptre. His only insignia is a simple paintbrush. There is no self-admiration seen on his face, nor pride visible on his face or in his pose, but humility, as befits a modest painter. • Modern painting of Gustav Klimt sitting on the armchair • Semi abstract portraiture • Bold colours -painted in tones of green, blue, yellow, red and black • Painted in acrylic and chalk paint on canvas • Signed on the front: Mir; signed (Malgorzata Miroslaw) and dated on the back • Varnished in Matt to minimalise light reflection • Dimensions 22in x 28in x 1.5 cm. • Unframed to match your style Colour may slightly vary due to monitor settings, and lighting during photographing.

Contemporary artist hailing from Poland and currently rooted in the vibrant city of Manchester, United Kingdom since 2008. With a profound passion for artistry, I specialize in evocative female portraits that delve deep into the realm of emotions. My artistic journey is a testament to my fascination with the human face, particularly the intricate nuances of expression encapsulated within the eyes. Whether traversing the realms of realism or embracing the realm of imagination, my portraits serve as a canvas for my own innermost feelings, inviting viewers to embark on an introspective journey of their own. In addition to my prowess with the paintbrush, I find joy in the realm of sculpture, where I craft whimsical pieces using a medley of recycled materials. From wire to fabric, paper to environmentally-friendly fabric hardener, each creation embodies a unique narrative, weaving together elements of sustainability and artistic expression. Under the business name 'Chameleon’s House', I have also carved a niche as a furniture artist, breathing new life into vintage pieces through the art of upcycling. This endeavour not only champions environmental stewardship by repurposing forgotten treasures but also serves as a testament to the transformative power of creativity. Each revamped creation emerges as a testament to my dedication to infusing beauty and value into the everyday, turning mundane into extraordinary. Join me on a journey of artistic exploration as I continue to push the boundaries of creativity, one stroke at a time.
