Italy
Giulio Mosca was born in Cassano Irpino Italy in 1948. After having earned his diploma in art (maturitaartisitica), he was attracted by the excitement of Torino, the capitol city of the Piedmont, region, and relocated there in 1967, where he studied sculpture at Albertina Academy under the guidance of the master, Sandro Cherchi. During that time, he participated in the artistic movement that livened up the city, sharing - in particular - the friendship and the more significant experiences of the environment that created the "Conceptual Art" (Arte Concettuale) and the "Poor Art" (Arte Povera) movements promoted by Penone, Zorio, and other protagonists of the Post Avant Garde period. Frequently involved in the international sphere of the Galleria Sperone, he collaborated in particular, with the American artist Sol Lewitt. He obtained a full-time teaching position in Sculpture and the art licei in Torino, and continued to exhibit his work in international events. His sculptures and monuments are exhibited in both private and in public spaces. He is interested in research and experimentation, and investigating different philosophical reflections surrounding the mystery of life and the role of art as a cathartic for new systems of knowledge. He expresses his art using various materials ranging from bronze to aluminum, wax and plaster, photography and paint. With Raffaella Giordana, and in collaboration with Silvana Nota, he created the project "Terra Interiore" for the Museum of Art at Casa Colombo (MACC). Mr. Mosca lives in Moncalieri in the Province ofTorino (Italy).
