About The Artwork

The painting Night of the Hammer House combines influences from a variety of different sources, including the Mexican festival Dia de los Muertos, old silent-film set designs; the films produced by British company Hammer Film Productions (many starring Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee); stage productions such as The Rocky Horror Show; and iconic American shows like The Adams Family. This artwork was created by painstakingly cutting and pasting layers of cardboard together, then painting over them to create an intricate design. The couple in the centere piece have lived together for a thousand years, they are two old souls that have never been apart. There is a certain kind of love here: one of loyalty and acceptance as well as protection—from both each other and from nature itself. The warrior on the left holds a pole topped with a skull, while the one on the right wields a flame-coloured sword and shield. Their captain's skull head is encircled by flowers and feathers—improbably bright red ones among them. The garden, surrounded by cascading roses and foliage with mushrooms dotting the landscape, is full of detail. It's like a dreamscape—a fantasy that you can interpret however you wish. This piece is not framed, and has been exhibited in several locations where thousands of viewers were able to appreciate the detail and craftsmanship involved with this work.

I never really know what to write, or even how to  talk about myself especially when it comes to ones own topic.   So I will keep this  brief. I am a  UK-based artist who earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Communication from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia in 1998. I travelled a lot, lived in Australia , which was my home for 7 years.  Moved  back  to the UK and subsequently moved around the Southcoast area such as Brighton, Lymington, Southampton, Isle of Wight until settling back to Bournemouth.   I became a Teacher in 2002, and taught Design and Art at Brockenhurst College for 6 years. In 2016 I went to college and  studied counselling and received a diploma in art therapy.   During my training, I had a small business in Pokedown  for three years, in which I  sold and exhibited Art, made coffees and  sold Vintage clothing with my dear friend  Rob. This is where I started my Art therapy workshops for  several charities and non profit organisations., such as B'EAT, BCHA,  Richmond Fellowship, Rise and so on.    I have been fortunate to have exhibited work in locations across UK , including Brighton where I lived for several years, Bournemouth and  London, I  also exhibited my work at Brush Gallery  in Singapore. Over the years I have  sold many  works to collectors around the world. One particular piece is owned by a well-known figure from the band The Jam. I was fortunate to have also  worked on  several commissioned  works for  branding  US reality  shows such as  Gas Monkey, and Orange County Choppers. I have also worked with record labels such as Azuli records and generated album covers for Space Ibiza. In the last few years I have been primarily focusing on painting and exploring my own creative techniques.  Playing on the quirky and whimsical  narrative  and  utilising my  intuition  when it comes to creating my pieces.   I do not like to  limit my style,  but rather I see  it as a journey of self-expression. I love  combining  textures and blending  vivid colours together, and most of the time I have no idea where the final piece will take me, I just tend to carry on till I say 'It's Done..'   Once again Thank you for visiting my Saatchi Studio. .   I am available for commissions, exhibitions and purchases.  If you want to ask me anything please use the contact page.   I will be happy to discuss anything ( well not anything ) you understand what I mean ..
