About The Artwork
"Hanami" ("the feast of the contemplation of sherry blossom") is a traditional season feast in Japan. The tsunami took place while I was working on "Hanami 1" in 2011 (sold in 2012). In "Hanami 2" no one is celebrating on the painting. Sepia paint and amethist stones are dripping on the canvas. The flat blue surfaces refers to the blue pastic tablecloth that one mostly use in parks during this feast. "Hanami 2" looks like a desolate landscape.
