Painting: Acrylic, Ink, Paint, Paper on Paper.
The motivation behind this series require little explanation or elaboration. The letters used in the painting were cut out from the newspaper, a purposeful action reflecting the current reality that many throughout the world faces on a daily basis.
The relative peace and routine of modern life enjoyed provide sufficient relief, as reflected by the vibrant colors of the painting. Trapped by the gilded net, the discriminated tolerate their fate. However, neither the discriminators nor the discriminated can fully silence or ignore the muted undertones of discrimination.
This painting is from my Undertones series. Paintings from this series are an expression of the discrimination I have felt throughout my life.
Although the motivation of this series was personal, the resulting works are clearly universal. This series is dedicated to everyone who has been discriminated somehow or other.
