ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This painting comes form the series House of Atreus which is inspired by The Oresteia a trilogy of Greek tragedies written by Aeschylus. It is also inspired by the XVIII century British artist such as Thomas Gainsborough and Joshua Reynolds. "Helen Of Troy" somehow conveys to the state of alert after Covid-19 pandemic which swept through entire world. The beauty in this painting is deafen by glamorous costume and the apparatus which this figure is wearing on its head and torso hiding (her-him)self alluring the idea of feeling safe in the overwhelming projections of danger zones put on ourselves aggressively by mass-media, internet and community around us. Pandemic has changed our perception; we cover ourselves and shelter before the outside world. Nothing is like it used to be anymore.
