"Hello" is a painting on canvas, the original is still available as well as prints for purchase in a variety of different sizes.

"Hello" was my first painting in about 2 years. I moved from Berkeley to San Diego, got my own art studio and started with this piece. This was a test for myself, I wanted to make sure that I still had the skill to paint, so there was a lot of stress and pressure on this piece.

"Hello" began with me wanting to develop the background and really build up texture and many layers. Then my goal was to work on abstract faces, so I first added the green, male face. However, during this time, our society started to come alive with sexual assault, racism, feminism, corruption, political corruption, etc. It was eye opening and inspiring to hear these stories and really understand what was going on within these categories. This social climate went into the second part of this piece to its core, it drove me to add the red, female face. The idea was to have an unknown dialogue/connection between and male and female, creating a different story inside each of my viewers minds. As I developed the faces more, I wanted the woman to seem a bit annoyed by this guy, thinking to herself or saying out loud: "Hello?! Can I help you??"

I am a 26 year old living in downtown San Diego. I grew up in LA county and went to school at UC Berkeley. I went into college as a collegiate soccer player with hopes of playing professionally. That did not come to fruition, so I began to think about what else I was passionate about, and that answer was art! I was successful in the art program with a lot of features in UC Berkeley's Art Gallery, Kroeber Hall. I had the incredible opportunity to study under great artists like John McNamara, Brody Reiman, Craig Nagasawa, Indira Morre, Randy Hussong, and many more. Once graduating in 2015, I decided to move back down south where I could be warm again and afford my rent :) Since being in San Diego, I leased my own art studio and became a working artist and curator. In 2018, I produced and curated 2 large galas in San Diego's oldest most historical art building, The Brokers Building Gallery. Both galas featured between 10-20 local and international artists. I recently decided to take a leap and become an Art Consultant for National Geographic, this job I did not enjoy so I am working on building as an artist and pushing myself to create consistently again.
