About The Artwork
“Her” was inspired by an inner self I had connected to when I was trying to transition from leaving an abusive situation, to becoming homeless, and the the climb out of those situations and feelings within myself back to a stable and enriched life. “Her” is a depiction of outwardly portraying a calm state while having a clash of feelings represented by colors around and within. It features smoking as one of the main methods I used to feel grounded in a reality that seemed so far away and yet was swallowing me whole. This painting is not only a reflection of relaxing in times of crisis, but also of finding some kind of inner peace even when you feel like you’ve hit the bottom and need to start climbing up.
