Hillside Birches Painting

Planet Gaea Series.  This is a view onto the Thames valley from the wooded top of two prehistoric chalk hills in the South Oxfordshire.  The hills are called the Clumps.  Their summits are wooded by some of the oldest tree plantings in England.  The hills magnificently offer some of the most mesmerising panoramic views over the fields and first settlements in the South England.  These birches were found during a summery walk at the bottom of the hills along a fenced path leading to the river. The painting is combines textured and smooth areas and is created in oil paints.
