Wolfgang Klaus Maria Friedrich had similar experiences with Turner as others to Monet or Corot. He views the art-historical work in an original, independent way as a forerunner for his own work. The 'imitation' is in the concept of reduction. The horizon, perhaps we can imagine a mountainscape, is reduced to a bare minimum of shapes, colours and texture.
