About The Artwork

I Ate My Still Life In all my years of painting, there are moments that I just want to paint without applying my imagination. I have always been fond of the 'Still Life' and as I was considering a bowl of fruit as my subject, I started to think of the term "Starving Artist" and what might happen during the painting process. Needless to say that this was the idea that evolved and I had to honor my sense of humor.

Dennis Tawes, was always a creative mind and knew from the age of 6 that he wanted to be an artist. You could never stop him from thinking outside of the box with his undying wit and unwillingness to conform. Traveling from Jacksonville, Fl, and back again, his life has been full of adventure and an unquenchable thirst for learning. He was not much for learning from any one system, and found his own way through life from Puppetry, to acting, Comedy and Dance in Hollywood, Caricature work, and of course, Painting. Tawes eventually found his way through as the vibrant and facetious artist you see today. With a vast body of work, Tawes dazzles the viewer with his ballet of brushwork. Through his life you could see him as a major Artistic influence from LA, CA, to Branson, MO, and was invited to become a leading Artist in Millville, NJ’s Art’s District. There you could find him painting away in his studio, oftentimes painting two large paintings with a brush in each hand. You could also find him teaching painting to his various students privately, and through the Millville, Arts Creates Excellence program where he’d adopt many “Art Children.” He was House artist for The Amethyst Gallery for many years, and in March of 2013, Tawes presented a new series exploring the art of movement through color and light in a new Movement called LEDism: The art of painting to the technology of light as a means of creating color transformation and movement. Movement can be found throughout his use of color and lines of brushstrokes throughout all his body of work. You can find videos of his works at the following link: www.youtube.com/MrTawes. Tawes achieved his position as a contemporary artist with dedication and exceptional creativity. Tawes' energetic body of work communicates a bold statement that has found favor with collectors throughout the United States and abroad. For example, The Dong Fu Museum of Fine Art, located in Anhui province China, purchased his collective creation, “D’Abstract Blues” for their collection. His works express the depths of perception from his own introspection to the observations of humanity. You can find the intricacies and nuances of meaning through his use of symbolism and bold colors as they samba together for the viewer. Within every brush stroke, you can find the essence of Linda Allen-Tawes, his Muse and love of his life.
