I fell asleep Painting

SLEEPING AGAIN LIKE WHEN YOU WERE A CHILD. Sleep is treacherous, unexpected, elusive; when you seek and desire it, it doesn't come, and when you give up, you fall into it. There's nothing better for insomnia than not wanting to sleep, and there's nothing better for sleep than sleeping. Few things are better than falling asleep. Finding it by chance, reclined on a sofa, between words, with the TV in the background, watching something you like but aren't interested in. Listening to the radio with something murmuring to you, just like when you fell asleep while being told a bedtime story. That's the key to sleep: distraction, the not wanting, the not being able to, paying attention to something you must do and that slightly weighs on you. There was no better sleep than the nap I took when we were shown art history slides, right at the beginning of the afternoon, with my stomach still full from my mother's lunch, with the professor murmuring a litany about the images and watching classic art pieces with half-closed eyes. Beauty, art, murmur, story, and darkness. Always asleep in the last part of the class. No Melatonin, no Dormidina, no sleeping pills, no Valerians or Passionflowers, Linden or Lemon Balm. Nothing is better for sleep than a murmur, nothing better than the echo of your first dreams listening to a story. Returning to sleep.
