About The Artwork
This artwork was created to mark the 2nd year anniversary of my grandmother's death. It is accompanied by a poem about my memories of her: 2 years ago my phone beeped. You were dead. I cried an ocean, made art, stared at stars. My fingers hurt from ukulele But I keep playing just for you. You were my childhood happiness, The best pancake maker. You let us watch TV all day And gave us clothes That made us look Like eighties drug dealers You called me «rubonka» which means my fish. Your hands were warm, Your smile addictive. Your name was Lyuba which means Love. You gave us secret money And a million sweets. In spring you vanished Or became a stardust. But one day I promise I’ll follow you into the dark.
